One of the most visited towns in Antioquia is Guatapé. Located 75 kilometers from Medellín in the eastern part of the Department, it has a great story to tell, which is known by visitors who arrive daily, attracted by the photographs of thousands of travelers who leave testimony of its beauty on social networks.
In 1970, Guatapé faced a crossroads, when it was announced that part of the municipality had to be flooded to build the hydroelectric complex of Empresas Públicas de Medellín, a dam of energy importance for Colombia.
Despite the difficulties involved in relocating a municipality, this population of just over eight thousand inhabitants has been reborn, making this place one of the most desired by national visitors and even more by foreigners.
And what will we enjoy in Guatape? Cobblestone streets are adorned with houses painted in multiple colors. Double height constructions stand out in which wooden balconies stand out.
But what is most striking are the baseboards, drawings and paintings in high relief with which the houses of the town are adorned. They are works of art that tell stories and that refer to customs, flora, fauna, national symbols, and the trades of the townspeople. And, they make the color show unmatched. Guatapé can be explored on foot for a space of two or three hours, in which you can share with its inhabitants, who are always friendly and open to sharing their traditions and culture.
But what about the nightlife in Guatape?

It does not matter if it is a quiet town on the outskirts of Medellin, Guatape is also a place with a festive atmosphere that characterizes Medellin, it has nightclubs that are open until very late at night, bars where you can go for a beer with your friends. friends, walk along the Malecon or board a boat-Bar to continue the party on the reservoir.
